Welcome to Larnaca

Discover a charming Mediterranean city where golden beaches, ancient history and traditional Cypriot hospitality come together.

If you are planning a holiday in Cyprus, Larnaca is a wonderful place to begin your journey. Located on the island’s southeastern coast, this welcoming city offers a relaxed combination of beautiful beaches, historic landmarks, traditional restaurants and Mediterranean sunshine.

Larnaca is home to Cyprus’s main international airport, making it a convenient starting point for exploring the island. However, I would recommend spending some time in the city itself rather than heading straight to another resort.

With its attractive seafront, fascinating history and lively café culture, Larnaca has plenty to offer.

Discover Finikoudes Beach

Finikoudes is the heart of Larnaca’s waterfront.

The palm-lined promenade runs alongside a sandy beach, with restaurants, cafés and shops just a short walk away.

It is a wonderful place to enjoy a morning swim, relax in the sunshine or take an evening stroll beside the Mediterranean Sea.

The nearby marina and historic fort add to the area’s character.

Explore Larnaca’s History

Larnaca has a fascinating history stretching back thousands of years.

One of its most important landmarks is the Church of Saint Lazarus, a beautiful Byzantine church located in the historic centre.

Take time to explore the surrounding streets, where traditional buildings, small shops and local restaurants offer a glimpse of everyday life in Cyprus.

Visit the Salt Lake

Just outside the city centre, Larnaca Salt Lake provides a beautiful contrast to the busy waterfront.

During the wetter months, the lake attracts migratory birds, including flamingos.

Nearby, the historic Hala Sultan Tekke mosque stands beside the lake in peaceful surroundings.

When Should You Visit?

Spring and autumn are particularly pleasant for sightseeing, with warm weather and fewer visitors than during the busiest summer months.

Summer is ideal for swimming and beach holidays, although temperatures can become very hot.

Larnaca is an enjoyable destination whether you are planning a relaxing Mediterranean holiday, a short city break or a longer journey around Cyprus.
